I know it’s yesterday’s news. Well it’s older than that actually. Anyways, I’d just like to ensure that you all know that due to the celebration of elBulli-founder Ferrran Adria hitting 50 in 2012, the best restaurant in the world will remain closed for private customers dring 2012 + 2013. They will re-open in 2014, however.
Ferran Adria himself announced this in his speach at Madrid Fusion Summit which took place this week and it’s described in the press release published on the elBulli website.
I have requested a reservation for this 2010 season, but haven’t yet heard anything back. I keep my fingers crossed.
For all Bulli-fans (including me). Very Bad News: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704094304575029580782188308.html?KEYWORDS=bulli
Kim Lei-Jensen, I envy you 🙂
I am glad I managed to eat there last summer, a very special experience, a haut couture show more than a dinner 🙂 And the coolest super-competent and smiling staff 🙂 And got the traditional photo with Ferran in the supercool kitchen.
Exciting to see what ‘rises from the ashes’ in 2014 🙂
If I were living in Barcelona or vicinity I would certainly try and do that! 😉 Good luck

“The demand has again surpassed our limited possibilities of reservations for one season and we regret not to be able to fulfill more requests.
You can revise the situation during the season, near your available dates, to see if it is possible to find some solutions more when we confirm all the reservations 10 days in advance.

Some friends told me that is quite easy to get a reservation in the same week. It looks like a lot of people cancel their reservation in the last time, so they always have empty tables, and, after a couple of weeks calling for a table, you can get one.
I live in Barcelona, so, I’ll try this year.
You’re lucky S Lloyd, but we can still try to book for 2011 😉
Stephane, I don’t know but I believe that they are using this as an opportunity to do more extensive research.
An announcement and leave the reservations, beautiful shot. But what is the real reason for this closure?
Wow. I guess I’ll just have to swallow the pill: I was there in 2000 + 2001. Since then, each year I’ve tried hard to book a table there but in vain. I know it is tough nowadays to get a table there, but I kept hoping..for 10 yrs now ;p I guess I’ll try again in … 4 years!
Just hope I will still have all my teeth when that moment will re-occur, lol!
I haven’t heard anything yet on my request, was expecting a much longer wait. Sorry Sergi for your no…
Thanks and sorry to hear that Sergi. Last year it took 3 weeks before I got my rejection, so quite fast that you got yours already.
My 2010 reservation request was oficially answered yesterday. It was a “NO”. So, I assume they are answering now. Goog luck on yours!
