I've wanted to go to Falsled for a long time, but reading your review it seems like I'll wait - at least it sounds like there are other restaurants that I ought to try prior to visiting Falsled Kro.
Like you I love to be "moved" by the food, the wine, the atmosphere etc. and if Falsled in some way lacks this I'll wait. However I do not doubt that it's a fabolous experience if you go there for a weekend and get the experience as a whole, but other restaurants sound more intriguing after reading your review!- A

Great to read your review Trine. I must admit I only looked at the Bordeaux and Burgundy selection, but I had no problems in finding many wines I wanted to try on that occasion. Thats why I found/find it wonderful.I do seem to remember, that their offering of overseas wines was very limited, but thats like that in most Danish restaurants I have visited. When will the world discover the beautiful wines of for example Margaret River, WA, Australia.

Yeah….and the reason is I think, that they had a lot of my favourite Bordeaux wines and they were not heavily overpriced. You're very kind. The Fat Duck will be nice to write up ;-) but I have a few others to write before that. I a way I don't have anything major scheduled for December - you know with Christmas coming and all. Thanks, Zarah. I think you're right about the crowd taking some of my attention from the food - although I of course strongly argue that it doesn't ;-)
Hvedholm is very pretty place indeed. The room I had, however, was nothing special. Tiny tiny bathroom. But the Castle as such beautifully Christmas decorated."Gastronaut", that's what I mean, I arrived late and in darkness so didn't really get a chance to suck in the inn as a whole, the seeing the house from distance, getting that little blow to my stomach, accumulation of the looking forward to it. I didn't get that and that might have dropped some star dust on the food. Hmm.
Do you really find the wine list wonderful?

Hi Laurent,<br

However, if you take the settings, the open fire in your rooms, the expectations, the good service at the bar, awaiting the menu, the wonderful service of Marco, the wonderful settings of the restaurant, the herbes garden, the wonderful wine list...and the top food...what more can you ask for....well in your case...you ask to be "moved" touched....I say can good food get better than good food. Does it need to be innovative and inventing always....I am not so sure. When that is said....yeah, I was slightly disappointed as well had it not been for Marco and the wonderful Fois Gras on wild rice and sweet corn.

Nice review indeed.

I remember leaving with the same feeling. I think it changes the way a menu is put together a lot - the logistics just aren't the same, and you have to cater to a different audience. That said, it sounds like there were just a bit too many faux passes for it to moving Falsled to the top of my to-go-to-places list. Hm. I once had hot chocolate there, which was outstanding, but enough Valrhona chocolate and anyone can make great hot chocolate ;) (Incidentally, we stayed at Hvedholm too, when we was at Funen last - what a piture-pretty fairytale-like place, right?)

I like your honesty Trine – and that you make way for the notion that the food not moving you (as it should have!) could have something to do with you being part of a party.
